Meet Brian, Norfolk’s three-eared cat

Brian, who has three ears, is believed to be between four and ten years old.
We’ve all heard about cats having nine lives but have you heard the one about the cat with three ears?
Staff at a Norfolk rescue centre were equally perplexed when one intrepid feline arrived sporting an extra ear.As Feline Care Cat Rescue in East Harling continue to care for the moggie, it is hoped its owner will now step forward. Brian, as he has been affectionately called, arrived at the centre on Monday after being caught in one of the centre’s traps after setting off security alarms at a nearby business.
Manager of the centre, Molly Farrar, said: “We expected it to be one of our own cats who’d been causing problems so this handsome, mature gentleman was quite a surprise to us.
“We’ve cared for plenty of cats with one eye, three legs or six toes and several cats with no tail left, but this is our first three-eared cat.
The centre is hoping that Brian has not been dumped but has simply got lost.
Miss Farrar, 38, said: “He’s obviously very distinctive with his extra little ear so someone must be missing him or recognise him.
“He’s in a bit of a tatty and skinny state. He’s been in the wars a bit and has a fractured canine tooth and ear mites so he obviously needs looking after.

Marnie the dog: from stray to star – now raising money for senior pups like her

Before Marnie found herself in the arms of Tina Fey and Taylor Swift, she was a partially blind stray living on the streets. Now her internet fame is helping others
Marnie the dog – a 13-year-old Shih Tzu known for her ever-present tongue and head tilt – has risen from a stray to a star. Now, the Instagram celebrity is using her fame to advocate for senior pups like her.
Shirley Braha, who adopted Marnie three years ago, is using her dog’s growing popularity to shed light on the adoption of senior dogs. She’s created a fund – Marnie’s Old Pals – to help senior dogs in shelters receive necessary veterinary care.
To celebrate Marnie’s 13th birthday and the launch of her new book, Braha’s group held its first fundraiser on Monday night in New York, and asked those who attended to donate $5 to the fund.

There is nothing wrong with Cookie, who was dumped at Yonkers Animal Shelter at just six months old and spent the next six years of her life there.
The only thing that is wrong is that she remained homeless all of these precious years instead of enjoying life as a loving family member.
Cookie, now seven, was lucky to land at Yonkers, where she was given all the time she needed to find her match. Unfortunately, the shelter admits to having very little foot traffic in Cookie’s younger years.
So there she sat, waiting. Safe, not urgent, and overlooked.
And there she remained, hoping the right person would come along to take her home.

have been many stories of survival come out of the April 27 tornadoes
that devastated many communities in Arkansas. Towns like Vilonia and
Mayflower are now left to pick up the pieces as neighborhoods were left
shattered, causing a loss of both human and pet lives.
Out of this tragedy there are a few miracles taking place with the pets misplaced. One such story is that of a dog found wandering Tuesday in Vilonia. As it turns out, this old guy is 15 years old.
Now under the care of Fuzzy Hearts Rescue, he's in a foster home due to his owner's losing their home. The house was leveled, and the family had nowhere to go.
Even though this sweet senior had difficulty walking with bad hips, plus being stressed out from the trauma, his family had feared he was killed by debris. They're so relieved he's safe, and being cared for until they can find a place where he can rejoin them.

my Doberman/pitbull has been captured by the aspca when she got away one night when I was on a trip unfortunetly they capture my 9 yr old boxer too (I love her to death)
I could only pay the fee for my boxer to get out witch is $90 (im paying for)
but my biggest concern is that since they have been there for a while tthey want to charge me $150 just for my Doberman and if we don't nothing about it my 4-24-14 by 4:00 they will put her to sleep
I can't afford to take both of them out so im posting this asking anyone out there if you want the Doberman for the impound fee of $150

He and his wife moved to Oklahoma but recently returned to San Diego to visit their son
By chance they received a call from San Diego Animal Services saying that Buddy had been found thanks to his microchip
A beloved dog who vanished during the huge firestorm which engulfed San Diego in 2007 has been reunited with his family.
John Hartman and his family not only lost their home during the firestorm but also their black Labrador retriever Buddy.
Soon after the fires, someone found the two-year-old Lab and took him to a vet's office but the dog escaped. The Hartmans moved to Oklahoma but never gave up on their beloved Buddy.

However by an amazing stroke of luck, the Hartmans received a call from the Department of Animal Services during a recent trip to San Diego to see their son. Long-lost Buddy, now ten, had been found.
The dog had been found running loose in the Imperial Beach neighborhood and was dropped off at Gaines Street Animal Shelter on March 28.

March 21, 2014The beagle stray was rescued by the Young Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, and as a routine practice, all pets are scanned for microchips. Not only did Maizy have a microchip, her information was current; in turn her owners Chad and April Helland were called with the good news.
The Helland family had been distraught years before when Maizy lost her way. The friendly beagle who loved to cuddle was part of the family. Four-year-old Parker cried for his four-legged friend. Posters were displayed everywhere, but Maizy never came home.
Eventually the family adopted another beagle named Cooper, but no one ever forgot their first dog.

Dog missing for six years reunited with her family
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The last time the Helland family saw their dog, their youngest son was four years old.
Now he's ten and the dog they never thought they'd see again is back home.
"The day before we had taken a trip to Nashville. So the last thing that was on our minds was gee, I wonder if our dog that went missing six years ago is gonna come back," says son Tyler Yonce.
But finally it started to sink in that a family member was back.
"My husband told me and I just broke down immediately. I thought I would never see her again," says April Helland.
"It was a whole range of emotions -- shocked. I couldn't believe it," says her husband, Chad Helland.
Monday, the family got a call from Young-Williams Animal Shelter telling them that someone found their beagle Maisy, the family pet that went missing back in 2008.
"I spent many hours out in the woods. I took old t-shirts and put them out in the woods so I could leave my scent out there for her," Chad says.

According to San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA), a senior Chihuahua is in dire need of emergency care at an animal control agency in Texas.

This sweet ol’ guy just came in to ACS and he needs a hospice foster. He is a medical emergency. He will need to have his eye enucleated and SAPA will provide his medical care for a foster or adopter.
He is a sweet and gentle 9 yr old Chihuahua and he has been through hell and back and is very emaciated and has a painful Upper respiratory infection (like havinga bad cold). He is contagious to other pets for the next 7 to 10 days but he is so tiny and east to keep separated.
Chewy needs a warm space away from the others until he is feeling better. He weighs approx 8 lbs. This sweet little man just needs to be comfortable and loved for the short time he has left. Please email if you can help him.

Bentley was one of a litter of pups surrendered that day, so many years ago - his siblings found homes, but he never was adopted.
Today, the now adult dog, continues to wait, and hope that at some point, someone might want to call him their own.

Frightened, shaking senior dog, Manny who was rescued by A Purposeful Rescue because his former owner thought the dog was too old, quietly passed away at his foster home early Friday morning.Not even a day ago, Manny left the Lancaster, Calif. county shelter by the front door with his foster mommy; his tail wagging, and even a tiny bounce to his step.
No sooner did he arrive at his foster home, Manny headed right to the dog bed and fell asleep. On Friday morning, Manny was to be examined by a veterinarian, receive a bath, and enjoy a good brushing.
Sadly, that didn't happen. Instead, a statement from the Facebook page of A Purposeful Rescue announced the following news:
"I don't even know how to write this as it breaks my heart on so many levels. Manny passed away in his sleep early this morning. On a soft bed with his foster mama on the couch next to him. He just left us-just like that. There was so much more we wanted to show him-a life he probably never even realized existed. Just two nights ago I was on my couch weeping over a video of him in the Lancaster Shelter and was planning an escape route for him. Today he is gone and he has left so many with broken hearts. Honestly, I am still in a bit of shock."Most likely the stress of the entire situation was a main factor in Manny's death, but he died peacefully and fully aware that he was safe.
